Hi, I am new to this router and the forum, so please bear with me thanks. I just found my WRT300N v2.0 router is still on firmware 2.00.08 which had some problems with wireless connections. I searched Linksys website but can only find the latest firmware 2.00.21.
When I tried to upgrade it I got a message saying 'Wrong version, not for this device' or something like that. I searched this forum and found out I need to upgrade to 2.00.13 first (Which has two.bin files and needs to do two step upgrades). But unfortunately I can not download any older version than the 2.00.21 from Linksys website. Does anybody still have the 2.00.13 or any version can be upgraded from 2.00.08?
Or a location I can downlaod from? Thanks very much for your help! Thanks for the reply. Yes I have downloaded and tried the 2.00.21 and it would not allow me to upgrade. When I tried to upgrade it popped up a message saying 'wrong firmware, this firmware is not for this device' or something like that. I searched the internet and people are talking that I need to upgrade to 2.00.13 or 2.00.17 which had two.BIN files and I need to upgrade to the first.BIN file then upgrade to the second.BIN file to acctually bring the 2.00.08 to a higher level. Is this true?
If so can you please allow me to download the 2.00.13 or 2.00.17 for the v2.0 WRT300N? Thanks very much. I just bought a Dell Mini10 which has the draft N wireless built in and it could not make a connection to the WRT300N v2 router, not even in wireless G. I also tried an IBM ThinkPad R60 which has a wireless G and it could not connect to the router either.
Only a HP laptop can connect to this router in wireless G. But all these three laptops can connect to other wireless routers, such as Belkin, D-Link, TP-Link etc with no problems. I searched the internet and found it could be the firmware 2.00.08 is too old and with some bugs. And there are newer firmwares like 2.00.13, 2.00.17, 2.00.18, 2.00.20 up to 2.00.21 but unfortunately they are not released in the ANZ region and we have to stick with the old buggy 2.00.08 firmware. Hi Carrot (or any other specialists), could you please kindly put the 2.00.17 firmware download link here? Because I could not upgrade to 2.00.21 directly from 2.00.08. It will not accept it.

The only way, by what I learnt from the internet, is upgrading to 2.00.17 then to 2.00.20 (or maybe 2.00.21). I really need it because the 2.00.08 is so buggy and two of my three laptops could not connect to the WRT300N router, even in wireless G. I have tried to change everything in the router settings with no luck. Just want to avoid the trouble of the RMA. Thanks very much for your help.
